2022년 빈티지는 따뜻한 해였고, 비오니에는 그 따뜻함을 아주 좋아했습니다. 이 와인은 마치 햇살을 병에 담아 놓은 것 같은 느낌을 줍니다—밝고, 향기롭고, 그리고 매우 풍성합니다.
파소 로블스(Paso Robles)에서 온 와인이기 때문에 특유의 신선함이 느껴지지만, 동시에 깊고 황금빛의 농축감을 지니고 있어 일반적인 화이트 와인보다 훨씬 더 존재감 있게 느껴집니다.
향에서는 마치 향수 가게에 들어온 것 같은 느낌을 줍니다. 허니서클과 오렌지 블로섬의 크고 풍부한 향이 먼저 올라오고, 이어서 화이트 피치와 잘 익은 살구 같은 아름다운 과실 향이 따라옵니다.
그 안에는 구아바 같은 열대 과일의 작은 힌트도 느껴집니다. 한 모금을 마시기도 전에 계속 향을 맡고 싶어지는 그런 와인입니다.
막상 맛을 보면 바로 그 지점에서 매력이 드러납니다. 비오니에 특유의 무게감과 입안을 감싸는 오일리한 질감(oily texture)이 느껴지지만, 2022년 과실이 가진 허니듀 멜론 같은 산뜻한 크리스프함이 이를 균형 있게 잡아 줍니다.
피니시는 길고 부드럽게 이어지며, 아주 은은한 생강 스파이스와 부서진 돌 같은 미네랄의 뉘앙스가 남습니다. 그래서 이 와인은 우아하고 정제되어 있으면서도 약간 이국적인 느낌을 줍니다.
Tasting Notes
2022 vintage was a warm year, and Viognier absolutely loved it. It's a wine that feels like bottled sunshine—bright, aromatic, and incredibly lush. Because it's from Paso Robles, you get that classic freshness, but with a deep, golden concentration that makes it feel much more substantial than your average white wine.
On the nose, it's an absolute perfume shop. You'll get hit with big, heady aromas of honeysuckle and orange blossom, followed by some really pretty fruit notes like white peach and ripe apricot. There's even a little tropical hint of guava in there, too. It's the kind of wine where you just want to keep smelling it before you even take a sip.
When you do taste it, that's where the magic happens. It has that signature Viognier weight and “oily” texture that coats the palate, but the 2022 fruit has a surprising honeydew melon crispness that keeps it balanced. It finishes long and smooth with a tiny hint of ginger spice and crushed stone, making it feel elegant, polished, and just a little bit exotic.
